Hillscourt Hotel and Conference Centre is proud to announce a series of significant sustainability initiatives that further reinforce its commitment to being a responsible hospitality and environmental venue.
As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact, Hillscourt has recently been awarded a Sustainable Laundry Partnership Certificate by Nuwash Laundry. This certification recognises the hotel’s use of professionally laundered textiles processed through low-temperature, water-efficient, and environmentally responsible washing technology, helping to reduce water and energy consumption while maintaining the lower chemical usage and minimise environmental impact compared to traditional laundry methods — without compromising hygiene, safety or textile care.
“We recognise that sustainability is no longer an optional extra for many businesses and travellers – it is an expectation. As a conference and hospitality venue, we have a responsibility to minimise our environmental impact while continuing to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Our recent initiatives represent a significant step forward in reducing waste, conserving resources and supporting a more sustainable future. From replacing single-use plastics and bottled water to introducing eco-friendly guest materials and partnering with environmentally responsible suppliers, every change contributes to a greener operation. Specific initiatives we have introduced are:
- Our plastic room key cards have now been replaced and are walnut.
- The bathroom shower gels and handwash are all refillables.
- Our branded pens are made from recycled materials.
- We have replaced bottled water for delegates with filtered water served in jugs.
- The used kitchen oil is collected by Olleco. Used cooking oils (UCO) and fats are the ideal feedstock to refine into biodiesel. And, because they cannot be recycled into either the human or the animal food supply chains, due to the food safety risks they pose, this is by far the most sustainable way to dispose of them.
Hillscourt Hotel is committed to continually reviewing its practices and identifying further opportunities to reduce its carbon footprint. These improvements not only benefit the environment but also help our guests and conference delegates make more sustainable choices during their stay.
Conference Centre Manager Tammy Clinton said: “Sustainability is a key part of our business strategy. We are proud of the progress we have made and remain committed to implementing practical, meaningful initiatives that reduce our environmental impact while maintaining the high standards our guests expect. We know many of our clients are actively seeking venues that share their environmental values, and we are delighted to be playing our part.”
“These latest initiatives form part of Hillscourt’s wider commitment to responsible hospitality, ensuring that environmental considerations are embedded throughout the guest journey, from check-in and conference facilities to accommodation, dining and operational practices.”
