The University has built up an established reputation as a sustainable venue for conferences, events, accommodation, and weddings, thanks to the first-class facilities and high standard of customer care.
The University has two campuses, which offer a combination of either traditional and elegant or modern and striking. With over 70 conference/ meeting rooms available, we can accommodate 5-300 delegates.

University of Winchester is ideally situated in the city of Winchester which has excellent public transport links and is accessible from anywhere in the UK. We are approximately a 50-minute train journey from London and Winchester train station is less than a mile (approximately 15 minutes) from our Main Campus. The bus and coach routes stop at King Alfred’s Statue in central Winchester which is approximately a 20-minute walk. The park and ride system operates daily in Winchester and stops outside the University. We encourage guests to travel by public transport because the availability of parking on campus cannot be guaranteed.

Set on the outskirts of historic Winchester, University of Winchester has two great campuses for your conference or event.
Main Campus
The main King Alfred Campus offers a diverse combination of traditional and contemporary. The modern Stripe Complex holds our Auditorium with a capacity of 300 delegates and X2 studios perfect for refreshment and exhibition spaces. Our award-winning University Centre is ideal for banquet and drinks receptions as well as other special events. In addition, our St Alphege building with many sustainable features is the perfect bright and modern conference space seating between 56-120 delegates.
West Downs Campus
The Winchester Business School was refurbished in 2001 to become a light and modern conference centre whilst maintaining its original Victorian charm. The Grade II listed building has grown into a busy and versatile conference & wedding venue, offering both delegates and wedding parties flexible space conveniently located under one roof.
The West Downs Centre is our brand-new highly sustainable conference space featuring an auditorium which seats up to 250 people, over 10 break out rooms, an art gallery, a dining hall, courtyard garden and a terrace with the best viewpoint of Winchester.
Accommodation
We have 1800 single en-suite bedrooms that can be offered on a self-catering, bed and breakfast, half-board and full board basis. Our bedrooms are ideally suited to groups, sports clubs, summer lets and conference delegates with discount available for groups of 20 or more.
Catering
Our experienced in-house catering team, who have gained a reputation for high quality food, provides the catering at the University. We are proud to be able to offer a wide range of menus, sourced from regional and local suppliers and champion organic, free range and ethically sourced menus.
