Location and transport information

Based in the heart of the East Midlands, University of Derby Venues are easy and convenient, well connected by public transport.

Our venues are just minutes from Derby train station and a short distance from the M1 and East Midlands Airport. The Cavendish Building and One Friar Gate Square are a short walk from the city centre, while our other sites are linked by the Unibus service.

The University bus runs hourly from outside Derby train station, stops in the city centre and provides direct access to the Enterprise Centre and Kedleston Road Campus.

Meeting and event spaces that inspire

At the Cavendish Building we offer a range of flexible spaces on our 4th floor, including meeting rooms for up to 30 delegates and a multifunctional networking area accommodating up to 70 delegates. All room hires at the Cavendish include free Wi-Fi; an integrated AV and presentation equipment; lectern PC USB-C or cast connections; ceiling camera and microphone for MS Teams capture; and onsite IT support. This venue is equipped with Sennheiser MobileConnect assistive listening system.

The Enterprise Centre offers flexible rooms for 2 to 180 delegates. Each space is fully equipped with everything you need for a smooth, successful event. This includes free Wi-Fi; integrated AV and presentation equipment;  ceiling camera and microphone for MS Teams capture (ideal for hybrid meetings); filtered water; flipcharts, stationery; and limited, free on-site parking.  This venue is equipped with Sennheiser MobileConnect assistive listening system.

Your next training session could also be held at St Helena, our welcoming Chesterfield Campus. This venue offers spacious classrooms available for full-day or half-day hire, varying in size to hold up to 20 or 60 delegates.

Discover our Crown Court and Custody Suite at One Friar Gate Square: a unique setting for businesses to run practical activities such as moot court sessions and simulated hearings. Our authentic Custody Suite replicates a modern police environment with a booking-in desk, cell, and video-linked interview rooms ideal for hands-on training.

You can also hire our premium Green Screen and Podcast Studios at the Markeaton Street Campus; professional, turnkey spaces designed for high-quality video and audio production. These cutting-edge facilities provide a dynamic space for content creation, skills development, professional events and impactful workshops.
