Location and transport information

The University is well connected by all modes of transport. Travelling by train couldn't be easier, with Manchester Piccadilly station, just a five minutes walk from their Sackville Street campus and a short taxi ride to their other venues. There is also a direct train service into the station from Manchester International Airport every 20 minutes on weekdays.

The University's campuses are located from just one mile to the nearest motorway junction, car parking is chargeable on the Sackville Street and Oxford Road campuses. Free parking is available at Chancellors Hotel and within the student halls of residence, subject to availability.

The University of Manchester Conferences and Venues team offer a range of flexible venues in central Manchester so that events can be tailored to suit the individual requirements of each event. These range from large scale venues for national and international conferences, to year round venues for day meetings and dinners, many are located in the city centre, making it very easy for delegates to reach by public transport.

University Place houses the largest purpose built lecture theatre in Greater Manchester seating 1,000 delegates with sizeable exhibition space and 25 breakout rooms. The University also offers several year round venues including the city centre Manchester Meeting Place, just 250 metres from Piccadilly station, which can seat up to 90 delegates, and also a three-star hotel, Chancellors, with 72 bedrooms and nine meeting rooms from eight boardroom to 130 theatre. Dinners and receptions can be hosted in a number of iconic University buildings including the stunning neo Gothic Grade 2 Whitworth Hall, the historic Christies Bistro and the impressive Sackville Street building.
