RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
How can academic venues support this goal:
- Utilise a conference app to cut down on paper waste
- Ensure conference venues have robust recycling and validated green policies in place to support your sustainable goals
- Consider sustainable procurement for conference goods and services
- Encourage delegates to bring their own reusable cup and water bottle
- Opt for locally produced speaker gifts and / or useful gifts with a purpose
- Embed circular principles into procurement, menu planning, and waste management.
- Engage suppliers to support responsible sourcing and transparent supply chains.
How our members are supporting this goal:
Roehampton Venues
As part of our University larger Circular Economy Working Group, we are targeting breakdowns in our consumption cycles throughout our campus to see if there are systems we could be introducing to minimise this. I would love to see how other universities are measuring or gathering accurate information about consumption and waste – and what parameters are being put in place to minimise this. So much of waste and consumption reduction starts in your own home or kitchen, changing how we do things so how can we input this into a larger system?
