Conference Aston scoops Excellence in Hospitality at Chambers of Commerce Awards
Birmingham’s largest residential events venue, Conference Aston, has won the prestigious Excellence in Hospitality category at the annual Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards.
The academic venue, situated on the campus of Aston University, saw-off stiff competition from a respected shortlist, including Hagley Hall, Hotel du Vin, Millennium Point and Park Regis. Conference Aston’s award success follows a period of heavy investment, with more than £5.5million spent on expansion and refurbishments. Over the past 12 months, the venue has signalled its commitment to hospitality by making a series of key hires, including a new head chef. In the same period, Conference Aston also launched its first apprenticeship scheme.
Conference Aston was also shortlisted for the Excellence in Customer Service category.
Commenting on the award win, Samantha Brown, Head of Conference Aston, said: “The Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce Awards are highly contested every year, demonstrated by the huge names we were up against. To have scooped Excellence in Hospitality and be shortlisted in another category is a huge achievement for our team. Academic venues are often praised for their conference and events facilities and this award highlights that Conference Aston can not only offer this, but also outstanding hospitality, setting us apart from other venues in the city. We plan to build on this success through a range of initiatives, including further investment and training programmes, ensuring that Conference Aston continues to shine on the regional and national stage.”
