Academic Venue Solutions welcomes another two members
North East and Midlands venues join the consortium
Academic Venue Solutions, the consortium specialising in the promotion of academic venues for conferences and events is proud to welcome Newcastle’s Northumbria University and Unique Venues Birmingham to their membership.
Located in the heart of Newcastle, Northumbria University offers a variety of traditional, newly refurbished, versatile and sustainable spaces. From an arena as large as three basketball courts in Sport Central, which is suitable for conferences, formal dinners and exhibitions, to elegant period architecture in the Great Hall - ideal for formal functions and dining. The Hedley Suite on their main campus and Northern Design Centre in Gateshead offer stylish, multi-functional flat spaces, perfect for corporate events and product launches.
Northumbria's food and drink credentials are something to shout about too, all environmentally sustainable. The coffee and tea on offer is all certified Fairtrade, they serve MCS certified fish from sustainable sources. You can also take up the option to use crockery and their environmentally friendly water brand “vivreau”.
For getting to and around the campus, Newcastle is a very compact city so it’s easy! It has one of the best integrated transport systems in the country, centred upon the Metro system, and the extensive bus networks. The City Campus is a 15 minute walk away from Newcastle train station or a minute walk from the closest metro station.
Travelling south towards the Midlands and the new commercial venture between the two nationally-renowned venues. Unique Venues Birmingham (UVB) unites the conferencing and hospitality offer within the shared building on Centenary Square in the heart of Birmingham. It operates across the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and its academic connections of the iconic Library of Birmingham.
UVB sits comfortably within the diverse Academic Venue Solutions membership boasting the largest adult education centre in the UK, which operates from the Library, and specializes in 30 different modern foreign languages starting at those suitable for complete beginners and progressing through to post-graduate level.
Venues include the Book rotunda, an iconic setting for gala dinners and drinks receptions for up to 300 people, and the Shakespeare Memorial Suite. Both venues are ideally located in the city centre, situated a 10 minute walk from New Street Station.
