Manchester Met Conference & Events has partnered with Real Change MCR and the Manchester Homelessness Partnership to make a significant contribution to the local community. As part of the planned demolition and subsequent expansion of Cambridge Halls, the team worked with The Mustard Tree, a charity dedicated to tackling poverty and homelessness, to ensure that surplus appliances were put to good use.

In total, more than 100 items—including microwaves, toasters, kettles, and vacuum cleaners—were donated. The Mustard Tree team collected, cleaned, and PAT-tested the appliances before redistributing them to individuals and families in need of support with housing. These essential items will help people who are starting over to create a safe and functional home environment.

Gemma Hill, Sales and Marketing Manager at Manchester Met Conference & Events, said:
“We’re proud to support The Mustard Tree and the incredible work they do. This initiative demonstrates how collaboration can reduce waste and make a real difference to people’s lives.”

The Mustard Tree expressed its gratitude for the donation, highlighting the positive impact these contributions will have across Manchester.

This project reflects Manchester Met Conference & Events’ commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, showing how partnerships can create meaningful change in the community and building upon the £1 donation per delegate they already give to Real Change MCR.
