Hillscourt Hotel & Conference Centre is proud to announce that it has achieved Gold Level Neuroinclusive Venue Accreditation through Welcome Brain Consulting, recognising the venue’s commitment to creating accessible, welcoming and inclusive experiences for all guests, delegates and event attendees.

The accreditation places Hillscourt among the UK’s leaders in neuroinclusive hospitality. As one of only two venues to have achieved Gold Neuroinclusive Venue Accreditation, Hillscourt is setting the standard for creating conferences, meetings and events where neurodivergent individuals can attend with greater comfort, confidence and support.

Awarded by Welcome Brain Consulting, one of the UK’s leading neuroinclusion consultancies, the accreditation assesses venues against a comprehensive set of criteria designed to support neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other cognitive differences. The assessment considers communications, wayfinding, sensory considerations, venue operations and the overall attendee experience.

Research suggests that between 15% and 20% of the UK population is neurodivergent. Many people experience environments differently, particularly in relation to noise levels, lighting, crowded spaces and unpredictability. Through its partnership with Welcome Brain, Hillscourt has implemented a range of practical measures designed to reduce anxiety and create more inclusive event experiences.

These measures include:

  • Embedded neuroinclusion into our venue operations and guest experience.
  • Trained team members to better understand neurodiversity and confidently support neurodivergent guests.
  • Introduced clear, accessible signage throughout the venue to improve navigation.
  • Created flexibles quiet areas for guests who may need time away from busy environments.
  • Reviewed lighting, noise levels and room layouts to help create more comfortable environments.
  • Improved pre-arrival information so guests know what to expect before they visit.
  • Enhanced communication by providing clear, straightforward information before, during and after events.
  • Fostered a culture where inclusion, understanding and respect are at the heart of every guest interaction.
  • Committed to continually reviewing and improving our neuroinclusive practices through feedback and ongoing learning.
  • Plain food options

As part of its commitment to neuroinclusion, the Hillscourt team has also undertaken Neurodiversity First Responder training. The programme equips team members with practical knowledge and confidence to support neurodivergent guests, respond appropriately to individual needs and help create an environment of psychological safety where all attendees feel welcome and able to participate fully.

Tammy Clinton, Manager at Hillscourt Hotel & Conference Centre, said:

“Achieving Gold Neuroinclusive Venue Accreditation is something I’m incredibly proud of. At Hillscourt, we want every guest to feel welcomed, comfortable and able to be themselves from the moment they arrive. This accreditation reflects the hard work and commitment of our whole team, who are passionate about creating an environment where everyone can thrive. We’re committed to continually learning, improving and making Hillscourt a place where every delegate feels valued and included.”

Andy Williamson, Founder of Welcome Brain Consulting, said:

“Neuroinclusion isn’t about expensive refurbishments or major operational changes. It’s about recognising that people experience venues and events differently and taking practical steps to remove unnecessary barriers. Hillscourt has demonstrated a genuine commitment to creating an environment where more people can thrive, and we’re delighted to recognise that achievement with Gold Neuroinclusive Venue Accreditation.”

“What particularly stood out was Hillscourt’s decision to invest in Neurodiversity First Responder training alongside the accreditation process. Creating truly inclusive experiences isn’t just about physical spaces and processes. It’s also about ensuring staff have the confidence and understanding to support guests in a way that fosters psychological safety, confidence and belonging.”

The initiative forms part of Hillscourt’s wider commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), accessibility, employee wellbeing and exceptional guest experiences. As organisations increasingly seek venues that align with their diversity and inclusion objectives, Hillscourt’s Gold Level Accreditation provides event organisers with confidence that their delegates will be supported throughout their visit.

Hillscourt believes that neuroinclusive practices are simply good hospitality, creating environments that work better for everyone.
